Peel Renewable Energy (Peel)
Zenith Energy has partnered with the DevelopmentWA Industrial Lands Authority to deliver this innovative project.
Peel Renewable Energy, known as Peel, is a Zenith Energy company, and owns and operates the renewable electricity microgrid (Peel Microgrid) and supplies power to customers at the Peel Business Park, a large industrial and agri-business precinct located near Nambeelup, and approximately 7km north-west of Mandurah, Western Australia.
Peel Renewable Energy has partnered with the DevelopmentWA Industrial Lands Authority to deliver this innovative project. The Microgrid is one of the first renewable industrial microgrids in Australia and consists of an embedded 22kV electricity distribution network, a connection to South West Integrated System grid and deployment of onsite renewable generation and battery storage assets, including an initial 1.2MW solar array and 2.5MWh battery energy storage system located on Lot 31 of the estate.
As the number of occupants and overall power needs at the Peel Business Park grows, Peel Renewable Energy will also lease roof space from businesses to install additional solar panels to generate additional power for distribution and use within the microgrid.
- The Peel Microgrid will supply reliable, sustainable and affordable electricity to owners and tenants in the Peel Business Park, typically via radial low voltage from our distribution stations but high voltage connections will also be possible.
- The Peel Microgrid will enable Peel Renewable Energy to deliver to Customers in the industrial estate electricity cost savings of up to 30 per cent along with sustainability benefits from at least 50% of all energy supplied being from renewable sources.
- The friendly Peel team will provide you with all the customer, and technical support that you require, while you operate in the Park.
Zenith Energy

Zenith Energy’s subsidiary Zenith Micro-Grids is the owner of several licensed electricity distributors and retailers in Western Australia that service residential, commercial, and industrial customers within the SWIS via connected microgrids.
This includes Peel Renewable Energy, Ocean Reef Renewable Energy and Eglinton Village Energy.
DevelopmentWA
DevelopmentWA is the State Government’s central development agency, operating across Western Australia with a diverse portfolio of industrial, commercial and residential projects. We operate under the Western Australian Land Authority, Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority and Hope Valley-Wattleup Redevelopment legislation.
These include transformative projects like the creation of new cities and communities, precinct-scale urban renewal and major projects such as the master-planning of Alkimos, the redevelopment of Elizabeth Quay, Yagan Square, the Scarborough Foreshore and the revitalisation of regional Western Australia from Broome in the Kimberley through to Albany in the Great Southern.
Next chapters include the creation of a new tourism destination Ocean Reef Marina, the renewal of the East Perth Power Station, Subi Oval and Princess Margaret Hospital redevelopments as well as development of the State’s premier industrial region - the Western Trade Coast and the establishment and support of agri-business at Peel Business Park.
By working closely with government, partners, industry and the community, they are able to provide a bridge between private industry and the Western Australian Government to secure sustainable community outcomes.
